Supporting the learning of international students
Monday 26 March - 10:00-12:00 - David Goldman room 312a
To introduce some issues in supporting the learning of international students, grounded in the experiences gained from a pilot project in FBL.
This session is presented by the Academic Advisors from the Faculty of Business and Law. They will discuss their work in supporting the learning of international students, outlining their evolving role within the Faculty and discussing key reflections on their first year of undertaking this work. These reflections have been used in planning study support for the Faculty¿s international students in 2011/12.
The presenters will discuss information gathered from students during induction week, around their expectations of studying in the UK. They will also outline their plans for an `extended timetable¿ entitled `Making Achievement Possible at Sunderland¿ (MAPS). This aims to provide ontimetable academic advice and guidance which is tailored to the needs of international students.
