Racism and Hate Crime
Sunderland, like any city in the world, can suffer from incidents involving discrimination instigated by a minority of people.
The University of Sunderland and Northumbria Police do not tolerate racism or any other kind of discrimination either on campus or off site.
This is often an area where there is a reluctance to report incidents for a number of reasons. Whether you believe an incident is motivated by racism or homophobia, you can report it directly to the Police or to University Security and it will be taken seriously and investigated.
Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can report any incident through the link to the left of this page.
The University is working with local partners to help build a confident city where differences are valued and all communities are able to play a positive role developing Sunderland's vision for the future.
ARCH is an organsiation that challenges racism and the University is a member of the Sunderland partnership. Further information is available from their web-site www.sunderland-arch.org.uk or you can e-mail them confidentially at sunderlandarch@sunderland.gov.uk
