Alison [Image]Alison - Gateway Manager

Originally from Grimsby, Alison has worked in the Gateway as Team Manager for three years and came to the University of Sunderland after having studied and worked in universities in America for several years. Wanting to return to the UK, Alison looked for a job which would keep her close to friends and family alike and settled in the North East. Her most memorable moment at the University was the day the Gateway opened and she saw all of the hard work pay off.

Originally from County Armagh in Ireland, Adam came the Unviersity to study a Foundation Degree in Travel and Tourism later continuing to complete this with a top up degree. Adam worked as a Student Ambassador during his studies promotion Higher Education to perspective students wih the Student Recruitment Team, leading him to the Gateway in 2009

 

Andrew [Image]Andrew - Gateway Liaison Officer

Originally from Durham, Andrew came to study Media and English Linguistics at the University of Sunderland straight from Sixth Form and A-levels. During his first year Andrew took a job as a Student Ambassador working with the Student Recruitment department promoting higher education and the University to people from all backgrounds. While still studying, Andrew gained experience from all over the University ranging from Admissions work to the Student Helpline. This led Andrew to the Gateway, where he worked as an Ambassador for a year before moving to a full time position as a member of the Gateway Team. Andrew's most memorable time in the Gateway was the day he got his job.

 

Cian - Gateway Liaison OfficerCian[pic]

Cian joined the Gateway team in 2012 after studying two years at CSM in Ireland, later completing his studies with a top-up degree in Radio at the University of Sunderland. Whilst studying away from Cork, his home town, Cian became a Student Ambassador taking part in events like; University Open Days, school visits and presentations which lead him to the Gateway

 

Deanna [Image]Deanna - Gateway Liaison Officer

Deanna has worked in the University for many years from Catering to the then Business School. Having such as wide experience and knowledge Deanna joined the Gateway in 2006 as one of the first Gateway Liaison Officers she juggled work with studying by persuing the course of Business with Sociology. Deanna's favourite part of the Gateway role is when students become friends.

 

 

 Julia - Gateway Liaison OfficerJulia [Image]

After leaving school in 1982, Julia started working at the University (formerly Polytechnic) as a trainee in the School of Engineering Administration Office.  Some time after, Julia then moved to the Student Helpline where she acquired vast amounts of knowledge of the University and its students, which she brought to the Gateway and now assists students with all enquiries. Julia has seen many changes to the University over the years, and she is happy to say that all of them have been for the best. Julia's most memorable time at the University was when the Queen visited St Peter's Campus in 1992, when Sunderland gained City status and the Polytechnic became a University. 

Liam [pic]Liam - Gateway Liaison Officer

Liam joined the Gateway in February 2012 having completed his MA in Modern History at Durham University. Liam has decided to settle permanently in the North East, after relocating from his home town of Barnsley to study for his BA in Combined Social Science in 2006. Before arriving at the Gateway he worked as an Academic Support Worker in Durham. Liam’s favourite part of the Gateway role is the opportunity it provides to meet new people

 

Mark - Gateway Liaison Officer

Mark is originally from County Durham, and graduated from Durham University in 2008. He joined the Gateway Team the following year as a full-time member of staff. Mark has, amongst other things, been involved in the airport pick-up service, EAP and the maintenance of our website.
