Our approach

We are a multicultural community that celebrates and promotes equality and diversity. We do not tolerate discriminatory practices of any kind.  We work to continue to deliver a positive environment for the conduct of all our activities, where all members of our community treat one another with mutual respect and dignity.

As a local, national and international institution, the University aims to act as an exemplar of good practice and to influence our partners and community in sharing our values. We have a strong profile of achievement in the field of equality and diversity. Our Single Equality Scheme brings together Disability, Gender and Race in a single approach. It acts as a gateway to our procedures through which we seek to make further progress in promoting and delivering equality principles.

Through our policies and practices, we work to ensure that all students and staff are welcome in our community and do not face discrimination with regard to any aspect of their identity as detailed in our Single Equality Scheme.
