The ECU works collaboratively with HEIs on equality and diversity related issues for all who work or seek to work within the UK HE sector.

Equality North East provides a regional information service which gives advice and guidance on equal opportunities employment issues. It hosts job vacancies for employers who have good equal opportunities practices, including the University.

- Stonewall
Stonewall is a lobbying group for gay men, lesbians, bisexual and transgender people aimed at putting the case for equality on the mainstream political agenda and working in partnership with organisations to champion diversity.

- Government Equalities Office
The GEO is a cross cutting Home Office unit, which has responsibility within Government for equality strategy and legislation. GEO takes the lead on issues relating to women, sexual orientation and transgender equality matters.
