Religion & Belief

Regulations outlawing discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief came into effect in December 2003. They apply to all staff and students in HE.

Universities cannot lawfully permit any employee or student to discriminate against another employee or student because of their religion or belief. We aim to create an environment where cultural, religious and non-religious beliefs are respected and our policy on religion and belief reflects this.

These principles are also reflected in our staff Dignity at Work Procedure and our Student Complaints (Harassment) Procedure. For staff and students who need advice on bullying or harassment issues - see our dedicated section here.

The University's Chaplaincy offers prayer facilities for staff and students which offer the opportunity for religious observance on campus. All Nations' Chapel is based in St Mary's Building on Chester Road. For details of other places of worships and for further information on the Chaplaincy please click here. For the most recent Chaplaincy report please click here. Our Chaplain is the Reverend Canon Dr. Stephen Fagbemi. The University also supports a wider understanding of faith issues within the community.
