The University of Sunderland is committed to creating an environment in which all staff and students, whatever their sexuality, feel equally welcome and valued.
We work hard to make the University of Sunderland a positive experience for students who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender (LGBT), and those who are unsure and questioning their sexuality.
Our Students' Union has a dedicated LGBT Officer, and the University also has a friendly student LGB society.
We are proud to be a Stonewall Diversity Champion, which recognises our commitment to improving our workplace for lesbian, gay and bisexual staff.
Dignity and Respect
Discriminatory practices are not tolerated at the University of Sunderland. We have a page dedicated to dignity and respect which provides staff and students with support and guidance on any issue relateing to bullying or harrassment.
In addition, we do not tolerate any kind of hate crime on or off campus, and we have strong links with ARCH, an organisation which supports the victims of racism, homophobia, transphobia, religious hate incidents or disability hate incidents.
