The University recognises the efforts and commitment of its staff by seeking to offer a rewarding package of pay and benefits, which currently includes annual  increments (progression to the next salary point within the grade), annual pay awards (inflationary uplifts in pay), a generous annual leave allowance and closure days, flexible working patterns and a final salary pension scheme. The University is committed to ensuring job security, pay and conditions for staff. Pay in HE rose by more than 35% between 2001 and 2008. The University currently participates in a national pay bargaining process: the 2006-2009 pay deal included pay rises higher than any in the public sector (at more than 15.9% compound), and subsequent pay increases are shown in the current pay scales.   Further information is available from:
