The Admissions Team within Student Recruitment and Business Partnerships ensure that the institutions policies and procedures for the recruitment and admissions of students are fair, clear and explicit and implemented consistently during the application cycle. The team is responsible for the application process for all applications to foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate, full time and some part time programmes.
Using agreed entry criteria the team make decision and only where there may be some deviation will an application be referred to an admissions tutor for a final decision. Factors such as work experience or vocational training can be taken into account when considering an application and Admissions have considerable discretionary powers to assess each case on individual merit. If, for any reason, the University is unable to offer an applicant a place on their chosen programme, they will, where possible, make an alternative offer to a programme which the applicant may find suitable.
The Admissions Team ensure that the entry criteria is then disseminated for use by Marketing (Prospectus and Web) Recruitment (Enquiries) and Admissions (UCAS Entry Profiles, External Publications and Applications)
The Team also have responsibility for:
- Disability Admissions Process
- CRB disclosures
- Admissions Statistic reporting
- Day to day liaison with Clearing Houses Offices, overseas staff and agents on admissions issues
- Admissions Support Unit
- Co-ordinating timetables, induction and pre-enrolment information
