A Career Break is an extended period of unpaid leave that allows employees to balance their career with other commitments, responsibilities and interests.  In providing the opportunity for Career Breaks the University aims to: achieve greater staff commitment by responding sympathetically and flexibly to employee needs; retain valuable experience and skills; attract high calibre staff by demonstrating a commitment to their long term career and personal development; aid succession planning and staff development; and support our Equal Opportunities Policy and contribute to work-life balance.
