Every effort should first be made to prevent placing persons with disability in locations from which they cannot evacuate a building without assistance. If and only if this is not possible, then a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) must be developed and agreed. The aim of a PEEP is to provide people who cannot get themselves out of a building unaided, with the necessary information to be able to manage their escape from the premises. It also provides Faculty/Services concerned with the necessary information to enable the correct level of assistance to be made available.
