Universities have a duty (Prevent) to look out for and safeguard students from becoming radicalised and drawn into extremism or terrorism. This can apply to all forms of radicalisation and extremism including political and religious activities across a wide spectrum. Experimenting with political ideas and exploring faiths will be part of the University experience for many students and are not necessarily negative. However if an individual begins to express extremist views then we may need to intervene. Our focus is on supporting individual students to prevent them from being drawn into terrorism; ensuring that our environment is inclusive, tolerant, welcome and safe.
