In January 2015, the University of Sunderland launched its employee survey, to provide an opportunity for employees to feedback on their experiences in working for the University of Sunderland, and to highlight issues they feel should be addressed in the future.

The survey was designed by Capita Surveys and Research (in conjunction with University of Sunderland) as an e-survey, with an option to complete the survey on paper or over the telephone.

The survey was distributed on 19th January 2015 with a closure date of 13th February 2015. Capita Surveys and Research processed and validated 1,121 completed survey questionnaires from University of Sunderland employees; this gives a response rate of 63% based on the 1,792 staff invited to participate.

The University of Sunderland donated £1 for every completed questionnaire; 792 (74%) respondents said they would like a donation to be made to the NSPCC on their behalf, and 282 (26%) respondents said they would like a donation to be made to the University Development Fund on their behalf.
