Hello from Your Students’ Union

We’re here to support you in reaching your full potential while you’re at the University of Sunderland. Come and join us on this incredible journey and get involved by registering on our website.

Our Mission: Shaping students’ lives for the future

Our Vision: To reflect and act upon the priorities and aspirations of our students in all our decisions and actions. We believe our students are the best and we want to enable your success.

We are led by a team consisting of four full-time and six part-time elected officers. Our permanent staff team work alongside them to ensure that you receive the support you’re looking for from Your Students’ Union.

Our purpose is centred around our five key principles that shape how we work for you: Passionate, Integrity, Empowering, Success and Inclusive.

Whether you are a home, international, part-time, or full-time student, you are a key part of Your Students’ Union. Everything we do focuses on the priorities shared with us by our members, and we want to ensure that each voice is represented. Our role is to collaborate with and, at times, challenge the University to ensure you have the best experience while you are here with us.

Your Voice

Our aim is for students to value Sunderland Students’ Union’s passion for representation at all levels both academic and democratic. We do this by capturing feedback, analysing and advocating for our students.

We have many opportunities within representation. Course Reps represent your views about your course, working with your faculty staff to address student feedback. Student Voice Reps represent your school’s overall student body in a high-level meetings and committees, ensuring students’ perspectives are considered in institutional decisions.

Just want your voice to be heard without becoming a Course or Student Voice Rep? Via our Make It Happen page, you can submit your ideas on our ‘Change It’ platform, get involved in any campaigns we have running or share your thoughts with Union Council.

Your Place

We want you to feel part of the University community.

Why not become a volunteer with Your SU? We have a great range of opportunities, both within the SU and in the wider community, including wellbeing, SU Buddy and one-off volunteering roles.
