Chaplaincy and Faith Provision

Home / Post-Graduate Research Student Handbook / Student Support / Chaplaincy and Faith Provision

The Chaplaincy is involved in the life of the University at all levels and across all parts of the institution, offering:

  • Friendship
  • Support
  • Pastoral care
  • Advice on religious matters to both students and staff, regardless of any particular religious affiliation or none

The full time University Chaplain is the Reverend Chris Howson.

Chris works alongside a number of multi-faith Chaplains who are also available for advice and support relating to particular faith groups.

Imam Yusuf Meah works part time to provide services, especially on Fridays on campus.

We also work closely with Mary Palmer, the full time Catholic lay chaplain

Everyone is welcome to use the services and spaces the Chaplaincy provides regardless of faith background. We aim to be an open an inclusive service that hopes to connect you to the wider community and encourages your wellbeing during your time here in Sunderland.
