Information for staff on employability and enterprise

At the University of Sunderland, our commitment to nurturing the 'Sunderland Spark' in every student extends beyond the classroom. The Centre for Graduate Prospects (CfGP) stands at the forefront of this mission, providing bespoke support to ensure our students are prepared, confident, and equipped for the dynamic world of work.

For our students

  • Tailored career guidance and advice
  • Opportunities for internships, placements, and real-world experiences
  • Access to a rich network of employers and industry professionals
  • Workshops and events to sharpen employability skills
  • Resources for budding entrepreneurs looking to start their own ventures

Academic and programme support

We work with academic colleagues to deliver a tailored programme of career-focused learning designed to raise student confidence, aspirations and develop career readiness.  Our programme-specific workshops and presentations can be embedded within accredited modules or offered in addition to planned teaching.

The Centre for Graduate Prospects colleagues provide expert insight, guidance and support to faculties and schools, consulting widely with academic colleagues to ensure our programme delivery is suitably tailored and relevant.

Academic Champions in Employability and Enterprise (ACEEs)

Our ACEEs play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between academia and the ever-evolving employment landscape. These champions, drawn from our talented pool of academic staff, are integral to the CfGP's mission.

Responsibilities and Impact of ACEEs:

  1. Promotion: Actively promoting CfGP's offerings, ensuring students are aware and can fully benefit from our comprehensive support system.
  2. Integration: Seamlessly integrating employability and enterprise support into the curriculum, ensuring students get a holistic education that's both academically rigorous and practically relevant.
  3. Collaboration: Working closely with the CfGP team to identify areas of need, tailor our offerings, and share feedback for continual improvement.
  4. Networking: Leveraging relationships with industry professionals to bring in real-world insights, guest lectures, and work-integrated learning opportunities for our students.
