Student Voice Feedback Forums (SVFFs) exist in each School and cover a range of related academic programmes or specific routes/levels of study and are an important forum where student representatives for your academic programmes provide feedback to, and partner with, academic staff to identify and build on areas which are working well, as well as those which need improvement. They are an opportunity for two-way seeking of solutions to problems between staff and student representatives, and where matters which go beyond the responsibility of the programme teams, schools of faculties can also be raised and followed up. The Forums meet a minimum of twice per year. The SVFFs replace Staff-Student Liaison Committees (SSLCs), although a small number of SSLCs may still exist for various reasons. It is important that you get to know your Course Rep (CR), as they are members of the Forums and can represent student opinions at these meetings, and between meetings where feedback needs to be provided, or points clarified ahead of the next forum taking place. Each School also has Student Voice Reps (SVRs), who link into your Course Reps and play a key role feeding back on what is working well across the range of academic programmes they cover in the School. They also sit on University-level bodies and have access to senior University staff. to feedback views which affect the entire School they represent. When you provide feedback which gets raised at a Forum, you should expect to get a response from programme teams and course reps on how it is being acted upon and, where it cannot be, the reasons for that. In turn, when you provide feedback, it should be given constructively and without blame, with reasons and information to back it up, so it can be properly looked into. Alongside the SVFFs, there are many other opportunities for you to provide feedback: informally to your module leader, programme leaders, personal academic tutors, and through programme and module level questionnaires, and other surveys, including the National Student Survey (NSS) for final year students.
