Personal Academic Tutoring supports students to achieve their academic and personal aspirations. A purposeful personal relationship with a PAT enables students to become autonomous, confident learners and engaged members of the scholarly community. This ongoing and collaborative relationship creates an authentic connection between students, their PAT and the University, supporting them for the duration of their programme.

Personal Academic Tutoring is a support system to help students to achieve their academic and personal aspirations while at the University of Sunderland. It is a purposeful activity that enables students to become autonomous, confident learners and engaged members of the scholarly community.

An aim of Personal Academic Tutoring is for students to actively develop and strengthen their profile through the additional evidence of co-curricular skills and experience. Through Personal Academic Tutor sessions, students should recognise that their qualification will be an entry ticket for graduate-track job applications; however, without evidence of independent experience, initiative, graduate skills, and business awareness/acumen, they are unlikely to stand out sufficiently to be shortlisted or appointed.

For details on your PAT please go to e:Vision where you will find their contact details.

Further information on Personal Academic Tutoring at the University of Sunderland, including student responsibilities, can be found in the PAT Policy.
