The Student Support Fund Team administers the Student Support Fund (SSF). It is a discretionary fund which can, depending on circumstances, provide students with a non-repayable award to support them with unforeseen costs or changes to their financial situation during their course of study. There is no automatic entitlement. Standard applications are means tested and will require supporting documentary evidence to support the assessment process. Successful awards are paid as a non-repayable grant via the ASPIRE StudyPlus system, students then download their award into their UK Bank Account.

We can also arrange an Emergency Loan in Term 1 of a student’s academic year where there is a delay in receiving their first instalment of student funding from Student Finance.   These loans are designed to help with day-to-day basic living costs and travel to university and repaid once student funding is received.
