Student Harassment and Sexual Misconduct

Home / Student support / Student Harassment and Sexual Misconduct

The University is required by its regulator, the Office for Students (OfS), to have arrangements in place to deter incidences of harassment or sexual misconduct of our students, to ensure these are swiftly and effectively handled when they do occur, and that students and others feel confident to report allegations knowing that they are going to be taken seriously with appropriate investigations and action taken.

Central information on how the University defines and deals with allegations of harassment and sexual misconduct is found on the following webpage, which is known as a ‘single comprehensive source of information’: Student Harassment and Sexual Misconduct | The University of Sunderland.

It includes key information on definitions, raising, reporting and investigation concerns, support provided to students in and outside the University, the required training for all University students, wherever you are based in the world on a Sunderland programme, on matters such as sexual misconduct and acceptable behaviour, staff training and development, and the University’s policy position on staff-student relationships.
