Council tax rebates

A Council Tax letter is given to students for the purpose of obtaining an exemption or discount on paying council tax.

In some cases where a student lives with non-students this letter can give a reduction in council tax by 25% however eligibility for a Council Tax exemption or deduction is subject to the respective Councils decisions.

Self Service

You will be able to produce your own Council Tax Letter via our Self Service on eVision.

Simply log in to e:Vision where you should then see the ‘Select Letter to Print‘ section.

On here, simply select the letter you want to print and we’ll show you a preview of the letter.

Follow the steps on screen and then use your web browsers menu options to print. You’ll be able to print direct to a printer if you have one connected or printing from a University machine, or if you have Adobe, you will be able to print it as a PDF.

Request a Letter

If you’re unable to produce your own Council Tax Letter online, you will be able to request a one from our Gateway Enquiry Desk.

Simply submit an enquiry via Compass and the Gateway Enquiries team will be produce one for you.

Please note, if you are able to produce one via our Self Service the Gateway Enquiries team will advise you on the process to follow.
